Floating Down the Stream
Floating Down the Stream is an anthology of 100 translation of songs composed by the Nobel Laureate poet of India, Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore once said that the best part of a song is missed when the tune is absent, for thereby its movement and its colour are lost and it becomes like a butterfly whose wings have been plucked. Still the author felt that this immense treasure of beautiful lyrics must be brought out to the larger world. The translations are also in verse form thus stands out as poems on their own right. The songs are largely drawn from the Devotion, Love and Nature bouquets of Tagore’s monumental work - the Gitobitan.
